OPEN CALL for design on circular economy

Together with The Artist and the Others we are launching an open call focused on Design proposals for Circular Economies, for architects, designers, digital media professionals as well as any crossover. So do you have an idea that is applicable and connected to the circular economy topic? Yes? Great, then send it together with your biography & portfolio at talent@theartistandtheothers.nl by the 30th of April.

The circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended. In practice, it implies reducing waste to a minimum. When a product reaches the end of its life, its materials are kept within the economy wherever possible. These can be productively used again and again, thereby creating further value.

In this period where finding innovative solutions to our current climatic and societal emergency, the circular economy makes both environmental and business sense: there is less waste and growth no longer requires an increasing extraction and consumption of resources, energy, water and primary raw materials. *

Euregional Open Call for Design on Circular Economy wants to focus on ideas and projects that prioritise sustainable production and consumption,  extend life cycles of products, and address also the important problem of plastics, as well as initiatives for a cleaner environment, and create a more sustainable future.

Additionally, in this particularly challenging period, the Euregional Open Call for Design on Circular Economy wants to support the development of ideas of Euregional creative industries professionals, and inspire the Euregio with innovative ideas, everyone should know about.

Who can submit ideas?

Creative Industries professionals – including professionals from architecture, design and digital culture, as well as every imaginable crossover – without any age limit, that are studying, working or living in the Euregio Maas-Rhein

Your project / idea has a strong focus or is connected to the Circular Economy topic.

Important note: Make sure you are registered (free, quick and easy) on the Wanderful.stream mapping tool.

What’s the award?

The Jury will select the ten professionals with the best ideas. Award them with a contribution of 1.000 Euros, to be used to present the ideas in front of an Euregional audience during the program of the Hello Creator festival in September. You will have the chance to visually present your idea through a public presentation night and a weekend exhibition.

The ten selected professionals will also receive a public speaking presentation training in order to maximise the effect of their talk. And, each selected idea, will also be individually presented on The Artist and The Others social media channels & website.

Moreover, the participants with the best 3 ideas will receive the possibility to enrol in the Wanderful.stream project in 2022 and participate as leading or assisting designer during a bootcamp.
